Facilities/Tour

The Norton College facility comprises 66,000 square feet of previously-used factory space, office space and land. This entire area has been converted into a bespoke learning environment to provide some of the best academic and vocational facilities in the country for the young people we support.

Classrooms

We have 17,000 square feet of classrooms, easily adaptable to accommodate new vocational subjects and experiences in line with students’ ambitions.

We also have dedicated classrooms, including:

  • A computer room, for courses in ICT maintenance and network support skills
  • A music room
  • The Learning Centre, for one-to-one Maths and English tuition
  • Newly created Science room
  • Catering centre
  • Within the College we also have two bespoke areas dedicated to meeting the complex needs of youngsters ‘Statemented’ with Autism and other associated special needs.

Sport, Leisure and Vocational Facilities
A large area of 66,000 of the factory square feet (larger than a football pitch!) of converted factory space is dedicated to housing sports facilities and vocational bays.

Sport and Leisure Facilities

Our sport and leisure facilities include two large sports halls for tennis, badminton, basketball and 5-aside football; a weights room; a dance and drama room; a boxing gym; the student common room and a DJ mixing studio.
We also make extensive use of local community based recreational and sporting facilities such as the all-weather football pitches in Worcester and facilities such as bowling, snooker and fishing in nearby centres.
The aim of using these external facilities is not only to introduce the young people to new leisure activities but also to ensure they are able to function in the wider community with confidence.

Vocational Learning Space

The vastness of our converted factory space allows us to accommodate a wide variety of vocational bays, including:

  • Painting and decorating
  • Carpentry
  • Plastering
  • Brickwork
  • Roofing
  • Landscape gardening
  • Mechanical maintenance (bicycles, motorbikes, lawnmowers etc.)
  • Boat maintenance.

This list of options is very flexible and can quickly be changed to meet youngsters varied desires regarding vocational options. We have sufficient space and staff expertise to allow us to organise and run new courses within a short space of time.

Catering Centre

Modern kitchens provide excellent facilities for food and technology courses as well as options to study catering and hospitality.

Outdoors

Our outdoor facilities include horticulture and forest learning areas as well as space for supervised outdoor activities, such as animal and bird of prey husbandry, and fishing.

“Students feel safe in school and know how to keep themselves safe in a range of situations. This is because staff care for them and form very positive relationships with them.”
