In May, Norton College Tewkesbury purchased four mountain bikes and appropriate safety gear to allow students to take part in a mountain bike based activity.

As many of the students at Norton College Tewkesbury do not do any exercise outside of College, the staff team wanted to encourage more activity. This was one of the reasons for the purchase of these bikes, and to allow students to explore the outdoors.

Using the expert knowledge of Mr Hardicker, a keen cyclist and Educational Director for Norton College, the bikes were sourced and quickly put to good use.

The first visit was to 417 Bike Park in the Gloucester area and the pupils thoroughly enjoyed it. As the summer approaches, it’s hoped that there will be regular cycling activity and the pupils will explore further afield including The Forest of Dean.
