This year we have enrolled our first group of students in the Duke of Edinburgh’s scheme and although the Covid-19 restrictions meant we were unable to do an overnight expedition the 4 students completed all the activities that they would have done on an overnight expedition, over two days. This included canoeing 35 miles along the River Severn, camp cooking, map reading and safety awareness.
They all did amazingly well; 2 have passed their Bronze Award and 2 are well on their way to passing.
This is a massive achievement for the first group of students at Norton and they will have encouraged other students to want to sign up for their Bronze Award in the coming years.
Well done to all involved and a massive thank you to the staff who organised and ran the activities; James, Chris and Luke.
