Make a Noise About Bullying

This November, our school proudly took part in Anti-Bullying Week, a national campaign that encourages everyone to stand together against bullying and promote kindness. The theme this year was “Make a Noise About Bullying”, reminding us that silence allows bullying to continue, but speaking up and supporting one another can make a real difference.

Throughout the week, pupils engaged in a variety of activities designed to highlight the importance of respect, empathy, and celebrating differences:

  • Odd Socks Day: Pupils designed their own odd socks, a fun and creative way to show that it’s okay to be different and that individuality should be celebrated.
  • English Wordsearches: In lessons, pupils completed wordsearch activities filled with positive words such as friendship, respect, kindness, and support. These activities encouraged pupils to think about the language we use and how words can build people up rather than tear them down.
  • Podcast Listening: Pupils listened to a podcast exploring what bullying is, how it affects people, and what everyone can do to prevent it. This gave them the chance to reflect on real-life experiences and discuss how kindness and inclusion can change lives.

The week was not only about raising awareness but also about empowering pupils to take action. Discussions in class highlighted how small acts of kindness—like checking in on a friend, offering a smile, or including someone in a game—can have a big impact. Pupils shared their own ideas on how to make our school a safe and supportive place for everyone.

By the end of the week, pupils had a stronger understanding of how bullying can affect individuals and communities, and how each of us has a role to play in preventing it. Most importantly, they recognised that kindness is powerful: it costs nothing, but it can change someone’s day.

Together, we are building a culture where respect and kindness are at the heart of everything we do.
