World Book Day and Library opening 2026 at Norton College Worcester
What a fantastic day our very first World Book Day at Norton College Worcester was! It was an outstanding success, filled with excitement, creativity, and a wonderful sense of community.
The atmosphere across the school was electric, with all staff and students fully embracing the spirit of the day by dressing up and taking part in a range of fun activities. Throughout the college, students were busy with scavenger hunts, “guess who?” challenges, and a host of engaging literacy-based tasks that kept everyone on their toes.
A particular highlight was the grand opening of our newly renovated Library. Students gathered to watch the official ribbon cutting and then enjoyed a range of celebratory activities, including face painting, reading sessions, canapés, cakes, and special treats. It was a joy to see so many students exploring the new space and engaging in all things literary.
Our World Book Day celebrations have given a real boost to our whole-college focus on reading for pleasure and developing a strong culture of literacy. As an extra special treat, every student took home a book of their own to enjoy.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to making the day so memorable. It truly was a celebration of the power and joy of reading.
