INclusive Worcestershire, an initiative launched in 2021, continues to champion inclusion across the county through its collaborative partnership between Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, Worcestershire Growth Hub and Worcestershire County Council. The programme aims to transform Worcestershire into a leading example of inclusivity, supporting businesses to thrive by embracing equity, diversity and inclusion.
The initiative works closely with local employers to promote and celebrate inclusive employment practices, while equipping organisations with the knowledge and tools needed to build workplace cultures based on understanding, respect and acceptance. Its core goals focus on raising the profile of inclusive employment across Worcestershire, educating businesses on equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), and creating meaningful, paid employment opportunities for people of all backgrounds.
Norton College Worcestershire has now been recognised for its commitment to this agenda, having been awarded INclusive Worcestershire Leader status. The award reflects the college’s strong and embedded inclusive approach, particularly in supporting staff and students with additional needs.
Achieving this status will also enable the college’s careers team to strengthen links with local employers who are committed to inclusive practices and willing to offer support and opportunities to students and staff.
Assistant Headteacher Ian McCrudden attended the recent INclusive Worcestershire Leaders Forum to accept the award on behalf of the college. With the accolade currently held by only 94 organisations across the county, the recognition highlights the high standard of inclusive practice taking place at Norton College Worcestershire and its ongoing contribution to building a more inclusive local economy.
