Student Safety during Extreme Heat Weather Warnings

Dear Parents and Carers

I am writing to you regarding the very warm weather forecast over the coming days. As you will be aware, weather warnings have been issued nationally, with particularly high temperatures expected.

The safety and comfort of our students is always our priority, and we would really appreciate your support in helping us manage the impact of the heat.

Please could you ensure that:

  • Students come to school dressed appropriately for the heat – lightweight, cool clothing is strongly recommended. We ask that coats, hoodies and heavy layers are avoided during this period.
  • Sun cream is applied before school and, where appropriate, students bring their own to reapply during the day.
  • Students bring a water bottle to school each day so they can stay well hydrated.

We will be taking additional steps in school to support students, including encouraging regular water breaks, using shaded areas, and adapting activities where necessary to reduce the impact of the heat.

We understand that some of our young people may find changes in routine or discomfort caused by the weather challenging. As always, staff will provide support and reassurance to ensure they feel safe and regulated throughout the school day.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and cooperation.

Kind regards

Judith Buckingham
